Salt Player is a local music player app for Android, with a Windows version also available. This GitHub repository is not the app's source code. It is the official release and feedback hub: new versions are published here, users can file bug reports or feature requests through the issues tracker, and announcements are posted by the developer.

The app plays music files stored on your device rather than streaming from an online service. It is available through GitHub Releases, the CoolApk app store popular in China, and the Google Play Store. The README notes that the Google Play version is signed by Google and is not interchangeable with the standard package, so you should pick one channel and stay with it.

The app has been adapted to work with specific features offered by Chinese Android device manufacturers. For example, it integrates with Xiaomi's screen mirroring and car connectivity features, supports status bar lyrics on Meizu devices, and works with OPPO's Fluid Cloud feature. Translations for the app are managed through a separate translations folder in the repository. Salt Player and its Chinese name are registered trademarks in China.
