Hi, I'm Henry Williams
My links
My name is Henry Williams and I'm a product leader who builds. By day I'm Interim Director of Consumer Product at Reuters, where I lead a team shipping AI-powered products to millions of users. By night — and weekends, and early mornings — I build things: MCP servers, AI tools, bootstrapped SaaS, and whatever experiment is teaching me the most that week.
My background is a bit unusual. I studied Computer Science at Exeter, spent a decade as a technologist at investment banks (Lehman, Barclays, Morgan Stanley) building real-time trading platforms across London, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong, then pivoted into journalism with a Master's at the University of Hong Kong on a Google scholarship. That led me into newsrooms (WSJ Pro, Dow Jones, Reuters) and eventually into product. The CS-plus-journalism combination turns out to be a useful one in 2026: I write technical requirements engineers respect, and I build products editorial teams actually trust.
My focus right now is AI product strategy. I spend a lot of my time thinking about how news and publishing adapt when the interface shifts from search to conversation — what I've been calling "Subscriptions on Rails" and distributed paywalls for AI platforms. At Reuters we built multi-LLM content validation, AI-powered notifications that hit 5–10x industry engagement benchmarks, and a personalization framework that delivered a 10x engagement lift. I co-founded our AI Governance Committee to give editorial a genuine veto on AI features — which counterintuitively made shipping faster, not slower.
Outside the day job, I ship. Transcord is an AI call recording and transcription platform I've bootstrapped for six years. CEDAR Co-Parenting is an NLP/sentiment pipeline for court-ordered communications, built as a native MCP server into Claude. Cleartext Labs is where I prototype whatever I'm curious about — Chrome extensions, steganography experiments, automation frameworks. I also built an app-review analysis tool processing 40,000+ reviews across eight news publications, used for competitive intelligence. The through-line: I don't just manage products, I build them.
Beyond the keyboard I travel as much as I can. I've spent stretches working as a digital nomad, and have lived in five countries across three continents. If you want to chat product, AI, MCP servers, journalism-meets-technology, or where to get the best ramen in Tokyo, I'm easy to find.
