XMind Hiring Assignment Repository

This is a hiring repository for XMind, a company that makes mind mapping software. Instead of a traditional job application process, XMind lets candidates apply directly by completing take-home assignments relevant to the role they're interested in. If you do well on the assignment, you can skip some of the earlier interview rounds and go straight to meeting with the company's co-founders.

The repository contains assignment prompts for five different job openings: a frontend engineer role (where you'd build a simple expense tracker app), an iOS engineer role (where you'd build a basic mind mapping tool), a product manager role, a marketing director role, and a UI designer role. Each folder has its own README with the specific assignment details. The idea is straightforward—instead of just talking about what you can do, you show XMind what you can actually build or create.

XMind positions this as a faster path to get in front of decision-makers. Rather than going through phone screens, technical interviews, and other stages, if your assignment is strong enough, you can jump to a final conversation with the company's founders. To apply, you complete the assignment for your target role, submit it with your resume to their HR email, and they promise feedback within five business days.

The company describes itself as a small, focused team that has spent over a decade building mind mapping experiences. This hiring approach reflects that philosophy—they seem to care more about what you can demonstrate than checking boxes on a resume. It's a self-selection mechanism: if you genuinely care about their product and can execute on a real problem, you're the kind of person they want to talk to.
