FlyingMouse Format is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that converts files between many different formats, entirely on your own computer with no internet connection required. It has a mouse themed interface that shows animations while you upload a file, while it detects the format, and while conversion runs, so you always know what stage the process is in.

The app can convert images, text files, Word and WPS documents, Excel and WPS spreadsheets, PowerPoint and WPS presentations, PDF files, audio, video, and ZIP archives. It bundles the underlying conversion engines, including FFmpeg for audio and video, LibreOffice for office documents, Poppler for PDF handling, and Tesseract for optical character recognition, so nothing extra needs to be installed separately.

Beyond general format conversion, it can decrypt music files that were downloaded through certain streaming apps and turn them into playable audio, including formats from NetEase Cloud Music, QQ Music, and Kugou Music. It can also pull tables out of PDF files and rebuild them as Excel spreadsheets, even from scanned pages, and it can convert PDFs into Word documents while trying to preserve the original layout, fonts, and images. E-book conversion is supported too, turning plain text, Markdown, or HTML into EPUB files, and converting EPUB or MOBI files back into text or Markdown.

The program remembers your preferences, including which output format you last chose for each type of source file and which folder you last saved to, so repeat conversions require fewer clicks. It supports both Chinese and English interfaces and switches automatically based on your system language the first time you open it.

There are separate installers for modern Windows 10 and 11 machines and for older Windows 7 systems, plus separate downloads for Apple Silicon and Intel Mac hardware. The Windows 7 build relies on older versions of its underlying components since those are the versions still compatible with that operating system. Windows and macOS installers are not code signed, so security warnings may appear during installation. The project is released under the MIT license.
