RESUME-SKILL is a collection of twenty ready-made skill files for AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf, all focused on resumes and job searching. A skill here is a markdown file that teaches the AI assistant a specific workflow, so once installed, the assistant recognizes when you are working on resume or job search tasks and applies the right approach automatically instead of you having to explain it from scratch each time.
The individual skills cover a wide range of tasks: optimizing a resume so it passes automated screening systems used by employers, called Applicant Tracking Systems or ATS, turning weak resume bullet points into achievement-focused statements with real numbers, analyzing a job posting to calculate how well your resume matches it, tailoring a resume for a specific job while staying truthful, writing cover letters, optimizing a LinkedIn profile, generating interview practice questions and stories, preparing for salary negotiations, and building specialized resumes for technical roles, executive roles, academic positions, or creative portfolios.
Installation is done through a command line tool called npx skills, which can install all twenty skills at once either globally across all your projects or just into the current project. There is also a manual installation option that involves cloning the repository and copying the skill files into the right folder for your AI tool. Once installed, you simply ask your AI assistant in plain language to help with a resume task, like optimizing your resume for ATS or prepping you for an interview at a specific company, and it uses the matching skill automatically.
